Vitra AKARI 3A table lamp

Akari 3A belongs to the Akari Light Sculptures that Isamu Noguchi began designing in 1951, with a washi paper shade resting on slender painted steel legs. Each lamp is crafted by hand in the traditional family-run Ozeki workshop in Gifu, Japan, where bamboo rods are stretched across Noguchi's original wooden forms and covered with washi paper made from mulberry bark. The paper softens electric light into a warm glow that Noguchi likened to the light of the sun.
